How is Smooth Transitions® different from a moving company?

Moving companies pack boxes, but they don’t sort, organize, disperse, etc. More than one person has opened up a box filled with trash packed by the movers! Smooth Transitions® makes certain items included in those boxes are the right ones and will fit in our client’s new home. In addition, we will ensure that items meant for family members get safely to their destination and that all remaining possessions are sold, donated, recycled or hauled away. We also offer complete unpacking and set up services so that our clients are comfortable on their first night in their new home.

Why is moving seniors different?

When a senior moves, they are usually downsizing and will need to make a decision about every object in the home — Move it? Will it fit? Do I need it? Will I use it? Give to a relative? Which one? How will I get it to them? Sell it? At auction? In an estate sale? Donate it? Where? Will they pick up? Trash it? Who will take it? This is quite unlike previous moves where nearly everything went to the new home. Just looking around the home at the number of shelves, drawers and closets filled to the brim can be overwhelming for the senior.

Yes, we will help anyone who needs assistance moving. Life is busy and moving takes a lot of time. Smooth Transitions has moved families and busy professionals. We have the expertise to organize and handle all your moving needs.

How much do services cost?

Since each client is unique, we provide a complimentary 1 hour initial consultation. We will view your home, listen to your needs and design a proposal that fits your goals. A no obligation good faith estimate will be provided to you as part of your proposal. Fees are based on an hourly rate and expenses will vary by project.

What if I am not moving and just need help organizing, making my home safer, or I need an inventory for estate planning?
